Sometimes there isn’t anything wrong with a room other than it isn’t right for the homeowners. It felt more traditional, more formal, and a bit older than this couple. They weren’t big fans of red either. The only asks were to give them an upholstered headboard and to make it feel like a quiet retreat.

We kept the walls neutral in one of our favorite Benjamin Moore shades and went for color on the ceiling, a reflective spa blue set off by the gilded base on a vintage chandelier from our private stash of vintage finds. We edited out some of the furniture and the pieces we wanted to keep were sent to a refinisher to gain a weathered driftwood finish.
